Who's Al? - History

I obtained my real estate license in 1964, a short time after my discharge from the United States Marine Corp. I started with a local realtor/developer in buying land for the construction of homes and apartments, eventually managing over 2400 units. I attained my broker’s license in 1972 and in 1983 formed my own real estate brokerage firm, Noral Co. The name was formed with a combination of my wife of 40 years (Norma) and Al. With a background of property management and residential sales, it was a natural progression to continue along those lines. The mid ‘80s brought interest rates to an all time high causing residential sales to plummet forcing banks and savings and loan associations to foreclose on large developments. I saw this as an opportunity to utilize my management skills and began managing the distressed properties for the lending institutions on a fee basis. In short order, I marketed and sold the majority of the properties as well as formulating management plans for condominium associations. My asset management firm currently oversees 14 residential and commercial condominium and/or homeowner’s associations totaling nearly 1000 units. With the help of a very capable staff, I’ve been able to sustain the designation “Life Member, Million Dollar Sales Club” since 1990. This designation is given to REALTORS who’ve participated in a minimum of $1,000,000 in sales volume in a year. In several years, I exceeded the $5,000,000 mark.

In 1993 I decided to give back to the industry that had given me so much and became a trustee in our local REALTOR association rising to the presidency in 1998. I was named Realtor/Broker of the year in 1998 and nominated as Ohio Realtor/Broker of the year in 1999. I continue to serve on the prestigious professional standards and legislative committees for the State of Ohio. One of my proudest accomplishments is attaining the CRB (Certified Real Estate Management Broker) designation. Less than ½ of 1% of the nearly 750,000 Realtor membership attains this designation.

In February of 2004, with an excellent staff running my asset management firm, I decided to align myself with Sulphur Springs Realty Co. With a larger market share and support staff, I could offer my clients a broader array of services to make the home buying and selling process even easier.
